CCF Webinar 03 – Unlocking Subnational Climate Investments through De-risking Mechanisms

Mobilising climate finance at the subnational level requires more than just the availability of capital. Many climate-compatible investments struggle to move from pipeline to implementation because risks are perceived as too high, poorly allocated, or insufficiently managed.

The third session of the Climate-Compatible Financial Systems at Subnational Level (CCF) Webinar Series explored how de-risking mechanisms can help unlock subnational climate finance and investments in practice.

The session covered:
– Key risks and barriers affecting subnational climate investments;
– A range of de-risking mechanisms to address these risks and strengthen project bankabilit
– Practical examples of guarantees, insurance solutions, and other risk-sharing instruments;
– Experiences from Africa, Latin America, and global institutions.
